Why do we travel?

It has been 4 months now, since we returned from the Caribbean and I am starting to fidget and twitch to go again, yes, go.... ANYWHERE. This acute condition started me thinking about the motivation. Why is it I feel this way? Do other people have a similar craving? To what extent?

Well, for me, being the complex guy that I am, it comes from many different stimulus.

These reasons include visiting family, needing to "unplug", go looking for adventure or new cultural discoveries or just relaxing. I know there are more but these top the list.

Sometimes the method is the all American road trip to unwind. This long ago trip to Sedona Arizona really allowed us to fill several needs from my list, but I needed more;

We have been lucky enough to visit the bush and savannahs of Botswana on Safari, and that really got the adventurous juices flowing. Also, for me nothing satisfies my need to have a cultural experience like ancient Rome, but you guessed it, GIVE ME MORE.

To really be a good traveler you need to go somewhere that is genuine and authentic, and it scratches your current itch!

It is no secret that I love to cruise because it helps me investigate all of my feelings, yes, I do have them. These could be walking on Glaciers in Alaska, spending time in Athens to climb the Acropolis or get lost in the sunset of Venice or Rome! Travel does not have to be to foreign lands and far away places, but that is what inspires me. I want and need to see new places and faces.

Now, keep in mind I am not a Doctor of Psychology or any other expert of the mind or body. I am

just a simple "travel dude" as one of my clients told me the other day.

I have travelled fairly well and see many people enjoying their travel and I would LOVE to know what inspires you and where you want to go, and why?

I guess what it comes down to is a simple truth, we all benefit from travel. It opens our eyes and minds to different cultures and ideas and helps us UNDERSTAND the world around us!

No matter your background, interest, budget or lifestyle, travel is good for the soul.

And yes, some of us are addicted.  WHAT ABOUT YOU?
